At the same time, George agrees that the new government funding won't help much to bring more lawyers into the sys- tem if the practice currently in place continues. "When you're only allowed to charge a legal aid client 10 cents per photocopy, and the offi ce where you rent space charges you 30 cents a copy, you're already in the hole," she says. For his part, Randall Bocock of the County & District Law Presidents' Association says that his organization is hoping to help put together a plan that will improve access to justice "by favourably enticing lawyers back into a dramatically under- funded system." Nevertheless, he, too, is wait- ing to see what the results will be. Th e real test, he says, will be in "ensuring the money delivers services to the front lines."
