The award is given to lawyers showing outstanding service in a particular area of practice, the academic sphere, or other professional activity. The law society's honour, the Law Society Medal, went to Earl Cherniak, Kirby highest gation at Lerners LLP and served as commissioner of the Ontario Law Reform Com- mission and president of The Advocates' Society. Chown is the Ontario re- gional managing partner of McCarthy Tétrault LLP and is a well-known family law and civil litigation lawyer. Evans practises civil litiga- tion with his firm Evans Sweeny Bordin LLP and is a past presi- dent of The Advocates' Society. Feinstein is a real estate lawyer with the firm Soloway Wright LLP who has been a law society bencher since 1991 and a direc- tor of LawPro since 2006. Lax is a leading litigator with the firm Lax O'Sullivan Scott LLP and past chairman of the Ontario province com- mittee of the American Col- lege of Trial Lawyers. Loeb is co-chairwoman of the condominium practice group at Miller Thomson LLP and author of leading texts on condominium law. Troister is a senior partner in the commercial real estate group of Torkin Manes Cohen Arbus LLP, and from 1990 to 2001 served as co-head of the real estate section of the bar admission course. Ward is a founding partner of the firm Davies Ward Phil- lips & Vineberg LLP and is considered a leading expert in Canadian tax law. This year's Lincoln M. Al- exander Award, which goes to a lawyer who shows commit- ment to the public through community service, was award- ed to Morley Wolfe. He has served as chairman of the To- ronto regional council of B'nai Brith Canada and as national president and the Canadian representative on the councils of B'nai B'rith International. Susan Elliott received the inaugural Laura Legge Award, which is given to an Ontario woman lawyer who has shown leadership within the pro- fession.
