When the results were in, there were a number of lawyers who found a place in the 42 nd provincial parliament. In 124 ridings, there were 14 lawyers who won a seat. BY ANITA BALAKRISHNAN AND ALEXIA KAPRALOS For Law Times ROMAN BABER, York Centre, PC Personal injury lawyer Roman Baber is a partner with Taylor Baber & Mergui, practising civil and commercial litigation. The 37-year-old is an LLB graduate of The University of Western Ontario law school, with a BA from York University. GREG RICKFORD, Kenora-Rainy River, PC Greg Rickford has a breadth of career expertise, includ- ing law. In addition to an MBA and degrees in nursing, Rickford has a bachelor's degree in common and civil law from McGill University, with additional training from the University of Arizona. NATHALIE DES ROSIERS, Ottawa-Vanier, Liberal Harvard Law School graduate Nathalie Des Ros- iers has taught in law schools such as the Univer- sity of Ottawa and Western Law School. Des Ros- iers has also served as commissioner of the Ontario Law Reform Commission and a board member of the Law Commission of Ontario. ROSS ROMANO, Sault Ste. Marie, PC Ross Romano of Sault Ste Marie is a graduate of Wind- sor Law School. The 38-year-old specialized in civil and criminal litigation at O'Neill DeLorenzi Mendes Nanne. Romano has also served as a member for the Standing Committee on Justice Policy. PRABMEET SARKARIA, Brampton South, PC Prabmeet Sarkaria is a former associate at Miller Thom- son LLP, where he practised corporate-commercial law. Sarkaria obtained his law degree from the University of Windsor and comes from a finance background prior to entering the legal profession. He also majored in fi- nance at Wilfred Laurier University and has previously worked in the field at TD Securities. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2015. GURRATAN SINGH, Brampton East, NDP Gurratan Singh, brother of fellow lawyer and NDP lead- er Jagmeet Singh, earned his law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School and is a criminal defence lawyer. He is the chairman of equity and inclusion at the City of Bramp- ton. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2011. MICHAEL TIBOLLO, Vaughan-Woodbridge, PC Commercial lawyer Michael Tibollo has been practis- ing law for more than three decades and specializes in commercial law and real estate at Tibollo & Associates, and before that, at Tibollo Turk. Tibollo, 58, has an LLB from the University of Windsor and additional training from Harvard Law. EFFIE TRIANTAFILOPOULOS, Oakville North- Burlington, PC Effie Triantafilopoulos earned an LLB and LLM in in- ternational trade and competition law. Triantafilopou- los is a senior counsel at Vassos Law and specializes in corporate, international trade and immigration law. Triantafilopoulos also served as executive director for the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association. CHRISTINE ELLIOTT, Newmarket-Aurora, PC Christine Elliott graduated with an LLB from the University of Western Ontario. Elliott co-founded a real estate, corporate and estate law firm with her husband, the late Jim Flaherty. Elliott has also worked in banking and co-founded the Abilities Centre in Whitby. GOLDIE GHAMARI, Carleton, PC Golsa "Goldie" Ghamari, based in Ottawa, is a graduate of the University of Ottawa's law school, who currently practises business and international trade law through her own professional corpora- tion, Golsa Ghamari, as well as having a role in- house as legal counsel at Grey Clark Shih and As- sociates Ltd. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2013. CAROLINE MULRONEY, York-Simcoe, PC Caroline Mulroney has worked as an investment executive, and she also has roots in law. Mulroney attended New York University's Law School and later returned to NYU's Center for Law and Busi- ness. Mulroney, a progressive conservative, was also an associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP in the Compensation, Governance & ERISA group. LINDSEY PARK, Durham, PC Lindsey Park is an associate at MBC Law PC. She earned her law degree at the University of Ottawa and focuses her practice area on civil litigation, including estate law, construction law, commercial litigation and financial loss recovery. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2014. ROBIN MARTIN, Eglinton-Lawrence, PC Robin Martin of Eglinton-Lawrence has an LLB from the University of Toronto and was a litigator for more than a decade. Since then, she has worked in public policy and advocacy, particularly around health care, working on issues such as cancer screening, heart disease and stroke. DOUG DOWNEY, Barrie-Springwater- Oro-Medonte, PC Doug Downey is a partner at Downey Tornosky Lassaline & Timpano Law PC. He obtained his LLB from Dalhousie University in Halifax and his LLM from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. His practice area focuses on real estate law and he's a designated specialist in real estate law by the Law Society of Ontario.
